Crestliner and Lowe, two venerable builders of aluminum boats and now part of the Brunswick Boat Group, have jointly introduced a new 22-foot center-console, semi-V bay boat with a self-bailing cockpit that includes a sprayed-in, non-skid deck liner. The formula is standard for fiberglass but new for aluminum. Construction is tongue-andgroove, with the four panels that constitute the hull fitting into extruded chines and keel and then carefully welded in place with continuous seams. The system is reliable enough to carry a limited lifetime warranty.

This bay boat offers a molded fiberglass console with space for in-dash electronics, three vertical rod holders on each side and a forward seat with a 16-gallon baitwell beneath. The helm seat can be either of two leaning posts with rod holders and cooler beneath. Bow and stern decks offer dry storage, plus horizontal rod space in the bow and a 30-gallon livewell in the stern. On either side of the livewell are cushioned jump seats. An optional beverage cooler serves as a step up to the bow deck. The boat is rated for up to 225 hp, but 150 is plenty for practical purposes. Although neither Crestliner nor Lowe offers trim tabs as a factory option, dealer-installed tabs are always useful for a skipper who wants to get the best performance out of a hull like this in sometimes choppy waters. Base price with a Mercury 150 hp EFI Four-Stroke and galvanized trailer is $31,395. Crestliner Boats, Little Falls, Minn. 866-301-8544; Lowe Boats, Lebanon Mo. 417-532-9101;
