Sea Ray continues to refine the 210 SLX, its 21-foot bow rider sport boat. For 2012, look for a fundamentally sound vessel with power options ranging from a 220-hp V6 MerCruiser with Alpha I stern-drive to a 300-hp MerCruiser V8 with a Bravo III stern-drive and SmartCraft digital throttle and shift. Sea Ray’s ability to turn out hundreds of boats like this with excellent overall quality control is testimony to the company’s high-tech, sophisticated manufacturing processes.

The layout for the new 210 SLX includes a spacious bow compartment with twin lounges and storage beneath, twin swivel seats for skipper and companion, a central storage compartment for skis and wakeboards, and a stern bench (beverage cooler beneath) or jump seats. One attractive seating layout is a rear sunpad over the engine, with a starboard-side walkthrough to the large swim platform. Options include a number of valuable features, both large and small. The largest is a forward-facing watersports tower with integrated Bimini top. Functional options include dual batteries with switch, an air compressor for inflating tow toys and an engine box fire-suppression system. Also available are a filler cushion set for the bow compartment, adjustable height helm and companion seats, and a color-matched SeaDek nonskid, cushioned pad for the swim platform.

Base price for the 210 SLX with a 220-hp MerCruiser 4.3L MPI engine and Alpha I sterndrive is $49,329. Sea Ray, Knoxville, Tenn., 865-522-4181; www.searay.com.
