Digital Yacht America has introduced Boatranet, which enables any onboard navigation data (e.g. radar chartplotters or gps devices) to be wirelessly broadcast to any web-browsing device, including your iPad, iPhone, Android, PC or Mac. Boatranet is essentially a wireless server that uses navigation data from any device connected via NMEA 2000 protocol and displays it as a web page on a portable device. It also incorporates a Navionics-based chartplotter, which allows your mobile device to act as a real-time chartplotter. Other media, such as music, photos and documents, can also be used by uploading data to the Boatranet system via USB, and all media can then be viewed and heard on the phone, tablet or laptop. Boatranet is available for $850. Digital Yacht America, Newburyport Mass., 978-277-1234;www.digitalyachtamerica.com
