Inmarsat has rolled out its new FleetBroadband 150 (FB150) mobile marine Iridium satellite communication system. The FB150 is a compact, onboard Iridium system designed specifically for small boats. It allows users to stay connected at sea with reliable, clear onboard broadband phone, internet, SMS (text-messaging) and e-mail service. The FB150 connects to any standard PC and offers landline-quality voice service and simultaneous connection to the internet at 150 kilobits per second. The above-deck unit is compact enough to install on a stern rail, T-top or flybridge. The satellite dome of the Sailor 150 measures just 12 inches in diameter by 10 inches high and weighs 5 pounds, while the Skipper 150 is slightly smaller.
