VOLVO PENTA announced the appointment of Marcelo Puscar as director of marketing.

Puscar will be responsible for managing and implementing a strategic marketing plan that builds, promotes and communicates Volvo Penta's brand, products and services in the marine and industrial market sectors. He will report directly to Ron Huibers, president of Volvo Penta of the Americas.

Previously director of marine sales for Latin America, Puscar is relocating from Volvo Penta Brazil to the company's headquarters in Chesapeake, Va. He has more than 15 years of experience in the marine and automotive industries in sales, strategic and management positions. Prior to joining Volvo Penta he was commercial director for a large boat group in Brazil.

TILGHMAN-ON-CHESAPEAKE MARINA mourns the loss of its longtime harbormaster and yacht club manager, Paul Davis. Davis passed away January 17 at his home in Worton, Md. Marina general manager Bill Davis said "I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Paul for the last twenty three years. He could do anything: plumbing, carpentry, whatever. Our community loved him. As the community grew, so did his friends. Paul was the most well liked man that I ever knew."

CHESAPEAKE BAY MARITIME MUSEUM welcomes longtime yachting professional Todd Taylor of Easton, Md., to its team as the new Boat Donation Program Manager. In this new position, Taylor will work closely with CBMM Boat Donation Director Lad Mills to further enhance the program. Taylor will leverage his industry network to promote awareness of CBMM's boat donation program, while soliciting boat and yacht donations and actively marketing those vessels to the public. All proceeds from the sale and lease/purchase of these donated vessels support the educational, boat restoration and exhibition programs of the museum.

Taylor became connected to the Chesapeake Bay as a boat captain in the mid-1980s and has been a resident of the area for the past 20 years. He graduated with honors with a degree in business management from the University of New Hampshire and is a current member of the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, Md. He has served as a board member with the Yacht Brokers Association of America and the Marine Industry Technical Education Council.

The United States Optimist Dinghy Assocation's International Committee announced that the ANNAPOLIS YACHT CLUB's (AYC) Optimist Head Coach, Tomas Ruiz de Luque, was selected as one of the coaches who will take 15 U.S. Optimist Dinghy sailors to the 30th Magic Marine Easter Regatta in The Netherlands, in March 2015. "To be one of the eight in this international event selection is amazing. It speaks highly of the AYC Junior Program, without which, it wouldn't have been possible for me to do this," said Mr Ruiz. The INTERNATIONAL MARINA INSTITUTE, the training subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries, awarded eight marina professionals as Certified Marina Managers (CMM) at the 2014 International Marina & Boatyard Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., on January 30. The CMM designation recognizes and distinguishes the most highly qualified marina managers throughout the world. On the Chesapeake, the newest CMMs include Nancy Booth of Hartge Yacht Harbor (Galesville, Md.), and Brad Wilson of Mears Great Oak Landing (Chestertown, Md.).

There are currently 324 CMMs worldwide. In addition to marina-management experience, CMM candidates must complete Intermediate and Advanced Marina Management courses available through IMI. Their entire training calendar is available on the AMI website at www.marinaassociation.org

Jonathan Jones, recently retired general manger and executive vice president of HAVEN HARBOUR MARINA in Rock Hall, Md. is the 2014 recipient of the American Boat Builders & Repairers Association prestigious Dennis Snow President's Award, given for significant and lasting contributions to the industry. The award was presented at the ABBRA Annual Awards Dinner & Annual Meeting held in January in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Jones is a former member of the ABBRA Board of Directors, and Past- President of the organization.
