Folks were horrified when the Claud W. Somers, a recently rebuilt skipjack owned by the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, capsized near the finish line on the second day of theannual Turkey Shoot regatta, a benefit for Hospice. The crew was quickly hauled aboard
nearby boats, while Captain Jay Rohman and some of the crew stayed on the hull to secure towlines. The boat was moved to shallow water, but immediate attempts to right her failed. Then a spate of bad weather thwarted the efforts of a professional salvager hired to right the boat. At press time the Somers was still on her side.
